Calabasas Saddlery is a family owned and operated business. The store first opened its doors in 1968, serving the small equestrian communities of Southern California’s San Fernando Valley. With three daughters deeply in love with the sport, Vern Benfer purchased the store in 1973. The saddlery has been a family affair ever since – it is now owned and operated by his daughter Julie. 

 

Calabasas Saddlery has been the premier location for Southern California’s equestrian needs for more than 50 years. Its central location and knowledgeable staff allowed the saddlery to quickly establish itself in the Los Angeles Area, offering a wide variety of goods to a continuously growing horse community. Through the years, the Saddlery has held its commitment of providing equestrians and horses with what they need. 

As one of the oldest operating retail businesses in the city, the Saddlery has played an important role in the development of Calabasas. The store's brightly lit sign and equine mural have become a landmark for many people traveling up and down the 101.

Today, the once empty fields around the store have been replaced by office parks and housing developments, but our original commitment to providing everything for the horse and rider remains. Our friendly staff is composed of experienced horse people whose knowledge and experience combine to offer you the best customer service in the business.
