The finest Vulcanite rubber covering offers some cushioning in the mouth. However, this increases the mouthpiece thickness and so mouth conformation of the horse should be considered carefully to ensure sufficient space for a thicker, single-jointed mouthpiece, especially with a fixed cheek.
